A coversation with my Daughter

Oh dear, I've already gone off script. Before I talk about breathing I just need to share a conversation that I had with my daughter because it was spiritually very powerful for me. I had just picked my daugher up from school, we were in the car when she asks.

"Daddy does the heart make you love?"

I loved this question instantly from my heart:)...then I momentarily froze and thought "How do I answer this?" Searching through both medical and energetic background on the spot. I attempted to explain to my five year old daughter who is somewhat familiar with Chakra system, that the Heart Chakra is like our energetic Heart in the middle of our chest and this is what influence how we love and how that influence our actions. ( My Reiki Teacher Master Irmansyah Effendi teaches that the heart chakra should ideally be so big that it merges and influences all other chakras)

Suddenly my daughter became sad and said, "The birds don't love me, they always run away. How do I get them to love me?"

What great questions...so I said to my daughter,

"You just have to love them. Love them with patience and understanding that the birds are only acting out of fear. They see you as bigger and stonger because they are small and fragile. Love them by forgiving them for their actions based out of fear. The only way they may change that fear is if you just be with them and accept that they are afraid of you but still love them. It may take a long time, it may never happen, but you can still love them and just be around them accepting them as they are not expecting them to change. It can't be conditional, like, "I will love you if you fly to my finger and perch on it." You just have to love them for being beautiful little birds. If you are absolutely dedicated and commited to the birds not being afraid of you I believe you can do that. Eventually they may accept you as part of their flock"

As I was saying this I was thinking wow this really pretty universal truth. If I want to feel loved then I should give love without conditions. As hard as that is sometimes it really is a huge relief for the one who chooses to forgive another and love them anyway. Then they don't have to worry while waiting for the next possible disappointment or spending time and energy controlling their surrounding to try and ensure not being hurt because it will be forgiven and dealt with compassionatly. This is only the beginning of a great conversation if anyone has anything to add it would be greatly appreciated. Much Love

Hello all, my name is Simon Collum. I am a Reiki Tummo Master, massage therapist, and RN. I am extremely excited to be beginning a Blog! While the word "Blog" is not my favorite:)... The idea of sharing my ideas and information in alternative/integrative medicine, nutrition, and spirituality sounds beautiful and exciting. This idea was suggested by my father, a great investigative journalist/author. (What a surprise, he thinks I should write something:)...I must say I had my doubts about the idea. Then I remembered that he hasn't steered me wrong yet. He suggested I try massage therapy as a career, as well. A career which has provided immeasurable joy for almost 10 years now. I must always first thank my parents for leading me down this path. My mother, I feel set this journey in motion by sparking my interest in Reiki, a beautifully simple energetic healing system. I will at some point go more into depth with Reiki and other healing systems. My general plan was to say hello...hi!, start with our most essential and basic needs and build on that. My next entry therefore will be all about breathing! Much Love
